Merry Christmas!

Still alive and kicking!

 Greetings to all bloggers!

I am a Seenager. (Senior teenager)

I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 69 years later.

I don't have to go to school or work.

I get an allowance every month.

I have my own pad.

I don't have a curfew.

I have a driver's license and my own car.

I have ID that gets me into bars and the whiskey store.

And I don't have acne.

Life is great.

Also, you will feel much more intelligent after reading this.

Brains of older people are slow because they know so much. People do not decline mentally with age, it just takes them longer to recall facts because they have more information in their brains, scientists believe.

Civilisation or, as it is here, civilization - perhaps there IS a difference...

A news item this morning covered the death of an infant during its first day in child care upon its mother's return to work. The news caster announced that other than USA, there are only three countries which do not have a compulsory programme (or, as it is here, program) of paid maternity - and/or paternity - leave. The other three were, I believe, Burundi, Guatemala and Papua New Guinea.

RIP Alf Garnett

I had the great pleasure of seeing him do an act in a local night club - was outrageous as usual especially with Viv Anderson in the audience not long after being picked for England -  but afterwards he had long chat with everyone and  was lovely guy.

I don't imagine Till Death us do Part would be allowed today

Have a good weekend

School Reunion
He was a widower and she a widow. They had known each other for a number of years being  school classmates and having attended class reunions in the past without fail. This 60th anniversary of their class, the widower and the widow made a foursome with two other singles. They had a wonderful evening, their spirits high with the widower throwing admiring glances across the table and the widow smiling coyly back at him. Finally, he picked up courage and blurted out, "Will you marry me?" After about six seconds of careful consideration, she answered, "Yes ... yes I will!"
The evening ended on a happy note for the widower. But the next morning he was troubled. Did she say yes? Or did she say no? He couldn't remember. Try as he would, he just could not recall. He went over the conversation of the previous evening, but his mind was blank. He remembered asking the question but for the life of him he could not recall her response. So with fear and trepidation, he picked up the phone and called her.
First, he explained that he couldn't remember as well as he used to. Then he reviewed the past evening. As he gained a little more courage he then inquired of her, "When I asked if you would marry me, did you say yes or did you say no?"
"Why you silly man, I said Yes. Yes I will! ... And I meant it with all my heart."
The widower was delighted. He felt his heart skip a beat.
Then she continued, "And I am so glad you called because I couldn't remember who asked me!"

One for our Beverley Boy

42 traffic lights go out at Beverley's Grovehill junction – and flow improves
Is this a record for traffic lights at ONE junction?
06.10.2015. Beverley residents say traffic is flowing smoothly after the lights went out at the town’s infamous Grovehill junction.
The 42 traffic lights which control the new junction – dubbed the “red light district” – went out this morning.

Nigel Owens tells off Scotland's Stuart Hogg for diving

Thank you Helga...

Sometime after 3am in Brisbane my phone woke me up with a Skype call from Helga. She wanted to make sure I didn't miss the game and offered me her commiserations in advance. I told her I was already celebrating and when we finished the call she was still laughing.   Sorry Helga…

Muskoka time is here again....

down under...

...guess it's that time of year again!...

...happy birthday, Jimmy...
Brian Close a man of the fifties! and so was this.....................................

EATING IN THE UK and Germany in the fifties

     Pasta had not been invented.
   Curry was a surname.
A pizza was something to do with a leaning tower.
Bananas and oranges only appeared at Christmas time
All crisps were plain; the only choice we had was whether to put the salt on or not.
Rice was a milk pudding, and never, ever part of our dinner.
Brown bread was something only poor people ate.
Tea was made in a teapot using tea leaves and never green.
Cubed sugar was regarded as posh.
Fish didn't have fingers in those days.
None of us had ever heard of yoghurt.
People who didn't peel potatoes were regarded as lazy.
