The two reserves for Easter Mondays rugby league match which Hull won 40 points to 4. Luckily, we were not required!

My flag, flying high.....

I know that Paul already put up a picture, but wanted to show that it is flown here in Canada, in my garden to be precise!  Happy St. Georges Day to one and all.

All the best

if rumours be true...

....happy belated birthday greetings to William Shakespeare, 450 years old this day!...

Good Friday afternoon.

Took a drive to Charlottetown, walked the boardwalk in Victoria Park, on the harbor. (not my spelling)  Some ice left on the water.
One view of Charlottetown from the harbor, you can see the spires of St. Dunstans Basilica in the distance.  The large building on the right houses The Culinary Institute.
The Battery, dating from 1720 to protect the harbor.
 The mouth of the harbor.
This one, right outside our door, American goldfinches just getting their summer colours. This was taken last week, the snow has now gone from there.

Government of the people by the people......well, no but at least they now seem to be recognising it!

This little snippet was in the Telewag yesterday and actually puts into the public forum what I have maintained for years: when more money is involved in elections here than most countries can post as their GDP, it's not the little people that count, just their votes! With typical electoral torn-outs in the teen and twenty percent range, public apathy has given way to oligarchy - and those elected are not inspired to change.

In a recent survey, most of those interviewed cared neither one way nor the other about public apathy.  ;-)

Rant over.

Talking of Cavaliers

My three Cavaliers from Spring 1959, Autumn 1959 and Spring 1960. A few autographs to ponder. You may notice that there is an error on the Spring 1959 edition. Roman numerals should read MCMLIX NOT MDMLIX

While idly surfing Ebay recently I came across this item. The opening bid was 99p so I thought it might be worth a punt. Can you believe there were no other bidders?!! Issued in 1968 to commemorate 25 years of the BFPO in Wilhelmshaven. (BFPO 25 if memory serves).Something of a coincidence in view of the article on page 16 of the current newsletter?
