Collingwood girl has seen the light

Just seen the Olympic Flame near Tredegar House in Newport... how lucky am I, the weather is also stunning.

Our Colonial cousins…

… left a lot of things behind in 1945 including their genes. However something as big as a railway engine you might have thought they would have missed.

The patron saint of couch potatoes

Not a lot of people know this (perhaps) but I bet we have all used one!

Couch potatoes worldwide held a moment of silence this week for Eugene Polley, inventor of the world’s first wireless TV remote control - the Flash-Matic who dies aged ninety-six on 20th May.
Colley’s invention is one of a handful of modern creations which can be said to have touched almost everyone in the world, and mostly for the better.
Working at America’s Zenith Radio Corp in the 1950s - now Zenith Electronics - Polley was tasked to create a remote control that didn’t have the trip-hazard wire of contemporary remote controls.
Polley’s Flash-Matic, introduced in 1955, was a simple gun-shaped torch that users could point at four photocells in each corner of the TV screen, to turn it off or on, change channel and mute the sound

I was able to provide a few items

http://aircrewremembrancesociety.com/

I was unaware of this site until I was contacted by alexking109@yahoo.co.uk who in turn had been put on to me via my dads' pilot's grandson. I'm sure some may have  artifacts etc. that should be shown. Interestingly, at least to me, it features members of all sides. Alex is located in Buckinghamshire and I'm sure would be pleased to hear from anyone.
