Bunper Stickers

Until today, my favourite bumper sticker was: 'NUKE THE GAY WHALES FOR JESUS' However, I was just out in car and pulled up behind a truck which was sporting: 'WHITE, STRAIGHT AND REPUBLICAN..... HOW ELSE CAN I PISS YOU OFF TODAY?' and I think that may have now stolen the march.

G'day

Sadly not in Melbourne Young Babs. Am in Oz one more day before heading East.

A stranger in a very foreign land

Photos added courtesy of Apple Store

Play up, play up and play the game..

A little bit of England in Singapore. The old Cricket Club dwarfed by the edifices of the new financial sector.

Sitting in the Long Bar at Raffles drinking Singapore Slings. All day I've been meeting a train of mother's who want to bring their children to me to hear English as it should be spoken as all that's available to them here these days is American and S'trine.

for Fred...don't look down!...

...the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, opened in 2010 has 2,560 rooms costing from £350 a night!...

...the infinity pool of the Skypark tops the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and towers 55 storeys over the city of Singapore!...

... the pool stretches 150 metres, three times the length of an Olympic swimming pool...

...the three towers were based on a deck of cards, according to designer...

Blimey it is hot!!

Anyone know the name of the island in the distance?

Not as exotic as some parts of the world but here in dear old blighty it is quite tropical :)

For Paul (who wasn't quick enough) a bounus quiz.

What famous singer once had this as the view out of her window? The photos below provide additional clues although they may also be a distraction.

Traveller’s Quiz

A member of the European Community where they still believe that maidens are likely to be ravished by dragons………. where? The capital always reminds me of a Russian prison.

For Paul

..and anyone else who doubts the existence of dodos in Dewsbury.

Clues for yesterday's puzzle

Some rather subtle and obscure clues to aid in solving yesterday’s puzzle. All the photos were taken within half a mile of the statue.

New quiz.

Staying with the theme of the last quiz, namely the after affects of British colonialism. Where can this statue be found and what does it represent? I must admit this particular one made my blood boil.

Solution to quiz

The wall is in fact that which the Israelis have built to screen them from their Palestinian neighbours.

Don't procrastinate

We always intended

Its closer now, I see the end

As yet I lose another friend.

My father said so long ago

Important things do not forgo.

As nothing pangs like guilt remorse

As through this life you blithely course

To say you wished you’d said or tasked

That seeming trivial thing they’d asked

It’s too late now you had your chance

You sit alone and hear the dance

The steps and music pound your head

“Lets do it now” too late, he’s dead.

We are off to the funeral of a lifelong friend and mentor, for as long as I have known him there were two things we were always going to do. Just a reminder I made up. Cheers Bill

PRS girls in Technicolor

Girls were in technicolor in 1968 - and seniors were allowed design their own coloured school uniform.
Linda Arthur, Sue Illingworth, Jean Francis , Pauline Bailey.

As Paul likes quizzes…..

At school nothing fascinated me more than going over the wall at night - anyway I digress. Here’s some wall art….. the question is where can it be found. (there are plenty of clues)

You mentioned Wangerooge...

Circa 1969. Looking for a place to have Sekt on Wangerooge...
The hats? I didn't ask.

Dmitri's vessel ?

I reckon this is the ship featured on Dmitri's recent post- the 'Rustringen', which sailed on day trips from beside the Strandhalle to Wangerooge, the most easterly of the Friesien islands. The second shot shows the ancient Drake pre 'lights out' ritual of all in wrestling, or at least that's what I think they were doing. It's the same two gentlemen featured in D's shot, all good clean fun.

It's such a shame that Ian has never been traced . It would be great to meet him again, 52 years later.About time D joined TWA, then I could buy him that drink we talked about some time ago.

Reunion 2013 caberet

Just a suggestion for the 2013 PRS bash. Thought I would get this on the agenda early so our girls can get practising! What ho, Helga!

More ...where... who?

Photo found today lodged in a book c.1960?

Where? Who?

Any takers? I think it was 1968 or 1969. I'm scanning everything I took back then and this fell out of an unsorted pile of 35mm film.
